Black Hat SEO

What is Black hat SEO and why can it actually drop you in the rankings and possibly get you banned by the search engines all together?

When we first started Search Engine Optimization we read alot about what to do and not to do. We have a system that works great with search engines, we rank high and we rank high fast. But our techniques are no more then what I wrote about in a previous article about SEO. So I encourage you to read that article as well. In this article I want to list some of the “Black Hat SEO” techniques, the tricks that can get you penalized by the major search engines and maybe banned all together.

* Keyword Stuffing- this is when you create a web page and add nothing to it but keywords and long list of phrases with no relevant content.

* Invisible Text- also known as cloaking – this is where you try to hide your keywords by making them the same color as your back ground. They are not visible to human eyes, but they are visible to the spiders.

* Spamming- using  excessive keywords in your content

* Door Way Pages- Door way pages are a page created only for the search engines to see  phrases and keywords.

* Using non relevant keywords- Your web page should have keywords and content that are relevant in nature to a certain topic. It is frowned upon by the major search engines when you try to use keywords that do not have any relevancy to your site.

You have to remember the “crawlers” the major search engines use are now programmed to look for such things. Black Hat SEO is considered unethical and will get your site flagged for review. So keep it honest.

All you really have to do is have the correct keywords, good content, make sure your pages are linked together by a site map ( so your pages can be easily crawled), submit your site to the number of directories available on the net, keep the flash to a minimum, have clean code, get quality sites to exchange links with you, drive traffic by word of mouth or on line advertising, write articles discussing areas of your business and manage your site regularly to show the “crawlers” that you are active. And you will be rewarded by being raised in the rankings, for playing the game fair.

Sincerely,

SiteSires
