Choosing an On-line Business

I recently read a post in which a man was thinking about starting an online business, discussing what he does for work. He had it all figured out, he was going to give some of his tricks away for free in the website and then sell a down loadable program. But he wasn’t sure if it was going to be competitive enough to make it online

There is a huge number of diverse people on the net who are looking for exactly what you have to offer, no matter what it is, you are already targeted in their thought process. The less competitive of that market you have the better. Find your niche. If it’s teaching people how to plant flowers in the winter and your market isn’t competitive, good for you, you got in early in the game and you are probably going to do very well. Because someone is looking for how to plant flowers in the winter. I’m not saying you are going to get rich but then agian depending on how you do it.

Now what you have to do is make sure you are findable.

I understand that this man was thinking that no one would look for his service as a window washer and how to create your own window washing business. (I am going to give him a karmatic plug and hopefully this helps him reach his 250 he said he would need to live comfortably). So his thoughts were to find another niche that people would be looking for.

I am telling you right now, what ever it is you are thinking about marketing, even if it is cat nail polish (pet safe of course). Someone is looking for that. Under searches like “pampering pet”, “animal products” Pet care”…… someone is looking for your product/service.

I say don’t abandon your fist idea, your passion, Be the master and teach what you know. You can always find another niche to do as well. The targeted market has already targeted you. The diverse, free on-line nation, is searching for you right this moment.

So pay attention to how you are going to present your self in your website.
Think of it as being one that gets alot of traffic.
How is it going to flow. You want your visitors to be directed from one page to another with out confusion.
Think about your content.
Use Keyword Tools to help you find what words or phrases are being searched in relevance to your service and use them in your content.
Find out what people are searching for, think about how you would describe it, what you would search for, go to the basic and out of the box.

Then use the internet to Network your business. Add yourself in directories, post on forums, create accounts on business boards, social groups, learn about adding links. Watch your stats, promote your business through newsletters, or RSS Feeds, Use videos, pay per clicks…….. Write e-books or articles. and submit them to article directories. As you go up in the rankings you will find that you have been found!

It is about getting up in the pages, to be one of the first sites someone sees. This has to do with keywords, relevant content, traffic and links. If you work on those areas, it does not really matter what you are wanting to sell or share, someone is already looking to buy or learn. Focus on that, and then see where you expand to.

Sincerely,
