Image Compression
Image compression is an all to overlooked part of site creation. If your images are large file sizes, then it takes a long time for the images to load. This included logos, pictures, backgrounds, icons, etc…
If your website has a lot of images, then you may want to think about compressing all the images so that load time is minimized on the customer end. There is nothing worse then being on a slow computer having to wait 2-20 minutes for the images to load., and if your customers are on dial up….forget about it, they’ve already left your site.
Image compression is easy and only takes a few minutes to do. One of my favorite image compressors is the “Advanced JPEG Compressor” Located Here
With this tool you can very easily compress your images into a more website friendly file size. You can do single images or you can also use the “Batch Converter” feature.
The quality of the image is not affected when you compress your images, actually you will be surprised at how great they look for as small of a file they become.
Compressing images is a far to over looked step in the process of creating a website. Compressing the images you are going to use is a step that should not be forgot about.
